Introduction

Note: This document is only relevant to the controlled release participants

For databases on an on-premise SQL server, the settings in this screen allows you to migrate this company to a Microsoft Azure SQL database. For a Microsoft Azure SQL database, the settings in this screen allows you to change the password for the database.

This feature is for updating an existing on-premise Exact Globe Next company database to be Microsoft Azure SQL database compatible. You have to manually upload the updated company database from on-premise to Microsoft Azure SQL Server.

After this is done, you should access the company via virtualization technology (Azure VM Remote Desktop Connection or Azure RemoteApp). You should no longer use an on-premise local installation of Exact Globe Next to access the company.

Note: The action you perform is this screen can not be reverted. It is recommended that you back up the Exact Globe+ database.

What version are you using?

The information in this document is applicable to product update 412 and higher. If you have versions lower than this, certain features explained here will not be applicable.

How do I migrate this company to a Microsoft Azure SQL database?

  1. In the Database settings screen, select Use SQL Server authentication.
  2. In the Authentication section, define the credentials for the on-premise SQL server.
  3. Click Save.
  4. The message “This action cannot be reverted. Do you want to proceed?” will be displayed.
  5. Click Yes to continue.
  6. The message “Changes will only take effect after restarting the software” will be displayed.
  7. Click OK. If you run Exact Globe Next with administrative rights, the system will create a CloudDB file and store it in the Exact Globe Next installation folder. Otherwise, the file will be created in the C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Exact Software folder and has to be copied manually to the Exact Globe Next installation folder.

Keep in mind:

  • To be able to change the connection, the user must be an existing user in the on-premise SQL server and have the Public, Serveradmin, and Sysadmin server roles.
  • When the database is migrated to a Microsoft Azure SQL database, it cannot be reverted.

How do I change the password for a Microsoft Azure SQL database?

  1. In the Change password section, type the new password for your Microsoft Azure SQL database and confirm the password.
  2. Click Save.
  3. The message “Changes will only take effect after restarting the software” will be displayed.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Restart Exact Globe Next.

Keep in mind:

  • When the entered password does not adhere to the password policy, the message “Password not according to Microsoft SQL Server password policy” will be displayed.
  • When the passwords entered at New password and Confirm password do not match, the message “Incorrect password” will be displayed.
